Breaking the Silence with Breaking News

Well, let's see how badly I followed up on my last blog post...ohhh, yeah. About that promise to post more often...

Well, life's been crazy...crazy great! As a freelancer since last August, I've been producing everything from motion design to interface design to data visualization for companies like Tolleson Design, Vertigo Software, Scout Labs, l.inc design, and more.

It's been a great 9 months of data visualization, motion/broadcast design, working with emerging media technologies, and a whole lot more.

Now it's time for another big change: I am no longer a freelancer.

It's all very...STIMULATING...

I am now a principal and co-founder of a new interaction design and development agency named Stimulant, where I act as its Design Director. With my long-time collaborator and friend Darren David, acting as President and Technical Director, we will specialize in creating digital experiences for uncommon devices and contexts.

We've already been working together to create multi-user, multi-touch interfaces for gigantic touchwall installations (some of the world's largest) for clients like General Motors. Likewise, we've been creating such experiences using emerging technologies such as Silverlight and Windows Presentation Foundation. Moving forward, we'll continue to use both emerging and established technologies based on the needs of the client, audience, and the brand...but focusing in emerging interface paradigms such as rich mobile and multi-touch.

We just spent a week in Las Vegas launching our new venture to coincide with our latest project: the world's first touchscreen UI in Silverlight for Windows Mobile 6 (specifically on an HTC Touch Dual phone), shown in the keynote address at the Microsoft MIX08 conference.

There is an interview with us featuring this project on the VisitMIX website.

I couldn't be more pleased to help launch Stimulant and do my best to lead it towards greatness. Working with smart people, making a difference in how people interact with software, being challenged to innovate with the latest and greatest technologies, and doing amazing work...what else is there?
